Why we're building Draper

We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to create, build and shape their own future.

When people have more autonomy and a better standard of living, they are better positioned to support themselves, the people around them, and their communities.

Until now, the cards that we’ve been dealt in this lottery of life have determined what feels possible. Money, knowledge, time, networks, opportunity - these are all things that aren’t easily accessed or evenly distributed.

Even though we’re all wired to imagine, aspire and create, we haven’t been equally able to pursue our ideas, build a livelihood, leave a bad job, or turn a passion into something real.

That’s what we’re setting out to change.

Through Draper, we envision a world where everyone has the infrastructure to pursue the things that matter them.

We know that entrepreneurship does not solve every problem, but we believe that it increases the surface area of what’s possible. It is how economic independence and personal fulfilment is attained, and is a proven method for people to change their own circumstances.

We want to create a world where everyone has a clear pathway towards accessing the life that they’ve always imagined.

And we want the things people build to matter. Not just more software for software’s sake, but products, services, creative projects, and businesses that other people can use, enjoy, and benefit from. Things that push us forward and bring communities closer together.

We believe in the infinite potential of you, and are excited to play a small part in turning your vision into a reality.

Should I start a business at all?

The case for starting something of your own comes down to ownership. Here is how to test whether it is your move, without betting anything first.

Why idea validation matters

Not everything that feels like validation is validation. What counts, what does not, and how much evidence is enough to start building.

What is a start-a-business app?

A start-a-business app takes one person from an idea to a running business, doing the work of product, marketing, legal and finance rather than advising on it.
